Whilst Clare was sunning herself in Ibiza at the beginning of the week, the work continued here. Lots more painting & decorating, but also a lot of work on the halls and stairs – including hopefully the very last of the building destruction and installation of a final steel beam to replace the old arch in the hall.
Quite a few bits going on in general:
- Bulk head work completed and extractor installed – still needs to be painted and LED lights fitted to the built in track
- Walls and ceiling in hall white washed and first coats applied
- Two more new windows added upstairs, the small en-suite and main window in bedroom 3. Further window work will now be completed once scaffolding is erected next week
- Stair balustrades removed, to be replaced with new straight ones later
- Cupboard at top of stairs removed
- Stairway angle adjusted to enable previous joists to be removed and flatten the area where the old cupboard was
- Hallway arch removed and wall taken out to create a more open hallway
- Steel fitted and boxed in to replace the previous arch support
- Downstairs toilet boxing woodwork completed, and room painted with an initial white coat
- Office / snug woodwork and ceiling painted
- Shelving unit built in office / snug and fitted into area to create the media shelving
- Initial frames built for new upstairs windows to enable make good of plastering and fitting of wooden frame and trims
- En-suite and dressing room further painted, including finishing the ceilings
- En-suite floors covered with plywood to prepare for tiling
