Week 41 – The start of the finish?

This week saw lots of small progress in various areas, with a range of trades on site again but with no single major activity going on. However, when looking back at the week it did feel like there were a number of tasks that were either the completion of a room or of the work needed by a specific trade for it. This will therefore mainly leave the decorator to finish each room and area. That said, the en-suite is still to be completed and that means the bathroom remains the last room that has not had any work started on it yet, and the focus will soon switch back to outside as there is a lot of work there remaining too.

Main activities this week:

  • Further work on the stairs and staircase – painting and sanding throughout
  • Plastering and prep work of wall in rear porch to prepare for final painting
  • Initial coat of paint to rear door (internal and external)
  • Fixes to extension hall cupboard flooring to repair damaged floorboards
  • Make good of cupboards in extension hall where steels caused disruption and new waste pipe was installed
  • Extensive work to upstairs external window frames and joinery, including fitting new wood surrounds and preparing areas for reclaimed wooden border detail
  • Stripped out wooden door and partition panel from front porch entrance to cellar, which will be replaced with a door lower down
  • Plaster-boarded and repaired walls and ceiling area of front porch ready for further decoration
  • Final installation of radiators to hallway, cloakroom and rear porch areas
  • Installation of toilet and sink / vanity unit in cloakroom, and associated internal plumbing
  • Further painting and prep work of panelling in cloakroom
  • Completion of all painting in the new office, including final coat of woodwork (door, skirting, window frame and full height shelving unit
