Ok, so most of the gold(ing) activity happened elsewhere – but I couldn’t let the week pass without making reference to Clare’s amazing achievement of wining gold in her category at the British Gymnastics Championships! Super proud for an amazing performance, hopefully the new patio area that was the temporary home of the practice beam played a small part in that too!
Back at the house, there were certainly some strong finishing flourishes on show too – as the main focus was on the tiling and grouting of the en-suite and the wallpapering of the downstairs cloakroom / toilet. It’s great to see both really taking shape and helped continue the feeling of more rooms approaching the finishing stages.
Summary of activities this week
- Painting of rear porch area – first coat of final wall colour
- Painting of door from rear porch to annex corridor
- Painting of door frame and wood work in rear porch
- Further painting of rear door
- Plumbing of radiator, toilet and vanity unit in the downstairs cloakroom
- Wallpaper put up in downstairs cloakroom – the pictures don’t really do it justice because of the lighting, but we’re very happy with how it’s come out. Another gold medal to Clare for her choices there!
- Painting of door to cloakroom from hallway
- Completion of tiling in the en-suite
- Grouting to floor and wall tiles in the en suite (just the edges to go once all dry)
- All chrome tile edging applied throughout ensuite
- Further plumbing work completed in the ensuite, including all taps and shower accessories fitted
- Plaster boarding of utilities cupboard where previous door was, ready for new sliding door to be fitted from the utility room (plus a shelf I put up previously to house the media units connected to the Kitchen TV)
We’ve also added some further work to the schedule as it was noted that one of the chimneys had poor lead flashings which was causing leaks internally – rather than patch it (again), we’ve decided to fix it properly whilst the builders are on site. So that probably means a few more weeks of work and updates at the end of the project!
