Week 47 – Papering, Preparing & Repairing

We were back to a full week and lots of work inside and out with a clear aim to be able to move a number of things forward in the coming weeks. Internally, the focus was mainly on the continuation of the wallpapering, including lots of tricky corners, sections and long drops in the landing area. A couple of days left to complete the hall and landing and the decorator will then move back to completing the paintwork in the lower half of the walls and all woodwork.

Externally they were preparing the patio area for the paving with the levelling of the concrete base layer to the right side area. The extension roof waterproofing was completed, and that allowed the roofers to come in and start to look at repairing the tiling around the windows that have been replaced. They had also started to repair areas of the drive and pathways given that there will be no more big lorries coming on site.

Summary of key activities:

  • Clean up and removal of stones from planting area in drive, temporarily used for additional space for lorries and trucks to turn during build
  • Foundations laid for the brickwork edging to the drive
  • Loose stones that had previously been scraped off the drive moved to the surrounding patio edges and used to infill garden walls, ready for future soil and planting to desired height
  • Wooden frames built in patio areas to enable cement to be laid for final levelling
  • Waterproofing, sealant and painting applied to flat roof area of new extension
  • Removal of broken tiles to all affected areas around new windows
  • Batons installed for new tile installation, and first few tiles fitted
  • Wallpapering to all upstairs landing and stair area
  • Initial wallpapering of hall wall past cloakroom and midway to double kitchen doors
