Week 53 – We’re flying! (well, Clare is)

We hit the milestone we’d been hoping this week as the scaffolding was taken down having been up since July. This was always going to feel like a big step forward as it means the patio area can now start, but was also timed with lots of additional work internally that really feels like we can see the finishing line. Clare is now away for 10 days so will join as an avid reader of this site, and I think there will be a lot of progress in that time as we edge closer and closer to completion.

  • Annex corridor floor boarded with plywood to raise floor level slightly ready for new carpet to be fitted on Tuesday
  • Shelving added to cupboards in annex corridor
  • Door retainer bolt added to kitchen double doors
  • Completion of plaster boarding and boxing of toilet frame ready for plastering once electricians have done first fix next week
  • Tiling of front porch area, including new area to cellar door, with completed edging to front door and step into main hallway
  • Grouting of all tiles in ground floor – including hallway, porch and cloakroom
  • Final painting of door frame and sliding door in utility room (utility room to be decorated separately later)
  • Door frames, skirting and dado rail fitted to entrance porch
  • Initial painting of front porch ready for full decoration
  • Filling, sanding and full painting of dormer window wooden frame surrounds – 2 days of solid work whilst the rain held off
  • Removal of all scaffolding, which means we have for the first time the fitted kitchen, full working patio doors and no scaffolding in place
