Week 57 – Birthday Bathroom!

A year on from Birthday Blocks and its amazing to think of the change over that time – but increasingly we are looking forward to all work being completed. With the patio due for a restart next week (weather permitting) the focus of this week was on the bathroom completion, decoration of the front porch, new pipework to the front of the house and the preparation of the stairs for carpeting on Monday. Around that was various other bits of tidying and completion as we edge ever closer to all work internally being finished.

Main activities this week:

  • Coving in hall sanded, painted and completed. Two strips of wallpaper to be replaced to complete this area
  • Walls, woodwork (including back of front door and internal door) & skirting completed in porch area – now just a few bits of wallpaper to go up to complete that area
  • New soil pipe installed from new bathroom to existing drainage, and all pipework – including rain run offs – tidied up to the front of house, replacing multiple historical pipes. Paving to be restored and final guttering to be tidied for completion
  • Hall stairs touched up and final coat of paint applied ready for carpeting on Monday
  • Bathroom shower screen fitted and sealed
  • Sealant applied to all tiled corners and edges
  • Vanity unit and sink installed – now just the second fix electronics to go for the mirror and main lights
  • Toilet connected to new soil pipe
  • Bathroom door trimmed to new floor height and refitted
  • Door frame and architraves fitted internally to bathroom – to be filled sanded and painted, along with back of the door
  • Internal double doors protective sheeting removed and edging tidied
  • Partial removal of protective tape to main new extension window
  • Further coat of paint to external patio walls on left hand side wall – rest to be completed as patio progresses
