Week 60 – Patio take 2!

The team took advantage of the bank holiday and started back on Wednesday, so we thought we might not have much to report this week – especially as the decorator was also off sick for that first day. However, they were able to really crack on with the patio and at the same time started lots of work on the garden to start sorting the layout of the beds and garden grading. The decorator then returned for two days to crack through his list of outstanding snagging items, including replacing two panels of wallpaper in the hallway. We are now down to one or two very small items internally with just the mastic around the tiles in the hall the remaining main job, which will be the last thing they do internally. We also expect the outside to take shape very quickly, weather permitting, over the next couple of weeks.

Main activities this week:

  • Tiling of main patio area re-commenced, with a new plan to overcome the distribution issues encountered last time due to the different sized tiles
  • Further levelling and preparation to wider patio areas which had not previously been started on attempt one
  • Lots (and I mean lots!) of manual digging of earth around the top patio wall / garden areas to level the beds
  • Filling of lower garden retaining walls with earth from top level removal
  • Removal and re-application of wallpaper to back hall wall as there were some pasting marks that had not dried off sufficiently – now looks much better
  • Painting of dado rail beneath new wallpapered area
  • Fixing and painting of cracks to landing ceiling
  • Fixing and painting of cracks to dressing room walls
  • Sealant and edging applied to bathroom underfloor heating controls
  • Filling and tidying of paintwork on stairs and landing area where electrical work has been completed post original painting
  • Filling, sanding and painting of cracks to top of roof lanterns in the kitchen
