Despite a very cold week, we only lost one day to poor weather as snow had fallen early Monday morning and there was no point trying to get to work on the patio or garden until it had cleared. The work therefore started on the Tuesday, although the tiler worked through Saturday as well to make up for the lost day.
Again all of the work was focussed outside, with the initial focus being on the completion of the patio area, before then switching to the main steps up to the garden and finally the coping edges to the walls. There is still quite a bit of that to go, including all of the lower wall areas, but it is much quicker than the full tiling which is now largely complete.
Alongside that there was plenty of ground work being completed as the last section of the old wall by the pond was removed and the earth levelled down to the new decking area. As well as completing all of the levelling of the bedding, lots of work was also completed around the top of the newly formed steps to level off the ground and grass area into the new beds. When its warmer this will all be seeded, as well as the beds planted to provide some protection between the lawn and wall edge.
Main activities completed:
- Patio finished into the corner by the walkway
- Steps levelled and top platform area formed ready for tiling
- Tiling laid to steps up to garden level
- Coping edges applied to left hand side upper wall and around top step platform
- Wall beds filled with final earth and levelled ready for future planting
- Lawn area levelled to provide more gradual slope into steps and bedding areas
- Wall by pond area removed and earth applied to provide more gradual bedded slope to decking area
- Decking delivered ready for fitting
