Week 16 – Tunnel vision

First week back in the house was challenging with us trying to manage many online work meetings amongst more jackhammering to remove the last bits of the supporting walls that could be removed before the final steels arrive. As such, the downstairs toilet, coat cloakroom and excavation of the chimney has been completed, so you can get a sense of the full width of the new kitchen space once this final dividing wall has gone.

They have also created us a wooden board tunnel so that we can get from the dining room to the temporary kitchen, allowing them maximum space to work in in the new kitchen space without impacting the interior – and we’re finding this much warmer!

The last two bits of old wall will come out once the final steels arrive and then hopefully it’s on to starting to build the new roof and this marks a milestone with the destruction ended, and reconstruction starts!
