The two internal steels have been slightly delayed and are now due to turn up early next week. That meant the remaining blocks of wall that are providing some support until the steels go in have been trimmed down as much as possible, but remain in situ for now. There was also lots of removal of the concrete above the old steel, which will also come out once the new ones are in.
However, the big step forward this week was the addition of the new ceiling joists in the outside extension – it’s now starting to feel like we’ve turned a corner to reconstruction. Once the final walls are out we will start to get a feel for the footprint of the new space, although we will still have some internal walls to be removed near the utility room to get the full space. We’ve also been sent a picture of the new windows being constructed, built to the same specs as the new lounge ones and will be replaced across most of the house as and when each room is tackled.
A fair amount of noise and rubble clearing will be needed next week if the steels are available and thankfully Clare and I are away for different work commitments at the start of the week when that is expected.
