Week 26 – A weekend of getting plastered

Sorry for the slight delay on the update this week, whilst the work carried on over the weekend I enjoyed a couple of days in the pub… We are now at Week 26 which means we are 6 months in. It doesn’t seem like its been that long (although Clare might disagree!) and really feels now that everything is coming together in the kitchen and extension area. That said, once this week is out of the way they will switch attention to the hall, dining room, annex corridor and landing area starting with the stripping back of wallpaper in areas we use everyday so will feel a bit more intrusive again.

Another full on week as we continue to focus towards the kitchen fit next week:

  • Floor screed completed, bringing the new extension area level with the original kitchen floor
  • 2nd fit electrics completed throughout the kitchen, including all lights, sockets and switches
  • Removal of door to boiler room that was next to the utility room door from what was the old extension hallway (now in the new kitchen), stud wall added to close off access and new access created from the utility room – well this is currently a large door shaped hole in the wall
  • Completion of walls between the utility room and door to old dining room
  • Plaster-boarding of all kitchen walls and ceilings
  • Doors and access to rear porch completed and porch area prepared for further work into the annex area
  • Visit from The Wood Works (kitchen company) to plan and co-ordinate fitting week – checking we are on track…
  • Over the weekend, all walls and ceiling plastered throughout the kitchen
